Monday, Apr 4, 2022 – Friday, Apr 8, 2022

9:00am – 4:30pm

Easter 2022

Book full week only (no part week)

CHIPS provides quality school holiday play provision for children aged 4-11 in the Guildford wards of Westborough and Stoke. We run for four weeks during the summer holidays and for one week at Easter from 9am until 4.30pm. During the summer we run from two separate schools for two weeks in each. We aim to establish a safe, fun and stimulating play environment.

Due to the need for a quality school holiday play provision for children aged 4-11 in the Ash/Ash Wharf and Tongham wards we set up a playscheme there in 2021 and ran our pilot scheme from Walsh Infant School for four days of the summer holidays in 2021 which was a great success and we will be returning to the same venue for one week at Easter 2022 and hoping to return for the summer holidays for four weeks (funding allowing).

CHIPS offers a wide variety of activities based on the needs and interests of the children we support and feedback provided by them and their families. Activities include arts, crafts and design, sports, music, dance, drama, and environmental play including building dens and bug hunts. Children are able to try new activities led by staff and coaches – in the past these have included cookery, graffiti art, samba classes and aboriginal art where children can achieve, broaden their world view, socialise and build their confidence as well as be active and healthy. Our sports programme helps develop better physical and mental health and wellbeing through activities such as martial arts, informal sports, obstacle courses, tag rugby, football and rounders. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are fully included in all activities.

CHIPS began in 2004 due to the results of a feasibility study with the local community. Our ongoing self-evaluation (recognised as excellent by Ofsted) makes sure that we are still needed and that we are responsive to what the community wants.

Evidence to support the above includes two outstanding Ofsted inspections, positive feedback from parents, carers, children, playworkers, volunteers and members of the community including councillors, head teachers and family workers and the continued high volume of applications for our scheme. Two thirds of our families coming to CHIPS have also used us before demonstrating a real belief in what we achieve.
